Hip-hop/rap
Music they say is food for the soul. When i hear that, I keep asking myself..what would the world be without music?
Music is divided into various branches: Pop,r&b,hip-hop,jazz etc.My main focus is hip-hop.
Hip-hop originated in the 1970's in New York City. Ever since the origination of hip-hop in the small parts of New York, it has spread widely to various parts of the world ranging from the time of hip-hop legends like Run, DMC to present day rappers. It is usually practiced in the ghetto areas by people who are able to tell stories and talk about life using rhymes to make meaningful lyrics.
The 'Rap Game" has led to a lot of conflicts leading to deaths,this can be found in the case of Christopher Wallace AKA biggy smalls and Lesane Crooks AKA 2pac.
The rate at which rappers get arrested these days is increasing at an alarming rate.More than 4 rappers have been sentenced between the summer of 2009 and that of 2010.This is mostly because of their drug & weapon use or sales.
These days,rappers don't care about the message they convey,they only care about the money they make. Hip-hop is now a commercial game,everybody wants to join it because people only care about a nice beat and a catchy hook and not about the most important thing, which is the "LYRICS"meaning no message is conveyed. So i ask myself this question, Is hip-hop dead?
